San Francisco redistricting task force starts herculean task Thursday

The first meeting of the redistricting task force is scheduled for Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. This nine-member body will redraw the boundaries of the 11 supervisorial districts making up San Francisco.

How the lines are drawn can have a significant impact over the political landscape of the Board of Supervisors. An historically progressive district could suddenly shift more moderate and a more moderate more progressive.

The task force meets at 7 p.m. Aug. 16 at City Hall in Room 400. The task force is made up of three members elected by the Elections Commission, three by the Board of Supervisors and three by Mayor Ed Lee.

The task force must compete its plan by April 15.
