San Francisco public school students start spring break early

Spring break starts early for San Francisco public school students.

Starting tomorrow the 55,000 students in the San Francisco Unified School District will be out of school for one week.

Friday, March 25 is the district’s third agreed furlough day to help save money and jobs in the district, which is in the midst of a $113 million budget reduction this school year and next. The district faces an additional $27 million budget reduction if the June special election doesn’t extend taxes already in place.

The next furlough day is scheduled for Monday, April 25.

Starting Monday, kids have one week off for spring break.

Classes will resume April 4.
