A San Francisco man was arrested after allegedly robbing a cab driver in the Mission district on Sunday, police Officer Tracy Turner said.

Robert Pelletier, 61, got into a cab in the area of 24th and York streets just after 4 a.m. and after driving just a little ways, allegedly pointed "a replica handgun" at the driver and demanded his cash, Turner said.

Pelletier then reportedly fled the cab with the cash. Officers arrived to the scene rather quickly and apprehended Pelletier about a block away, Turner said. The cab driver identified Pelletier as the man who robbed him.

Police were able to recover the victim's cash and found Pelletier in possession of a BB gun, they said.

Pelletier faces charges of robbery, possession of stolen property and brandishing an imitation firearm, Turner said.
