San Francisco officials to participate in 'Read Across America Day'

Are the San Francisco Fire Department, the Board of Supervisors and Board of Education all smitten with Dr. Seuss?

Maybe, maybe not, but a member of each organization will read a Seuss original this week as part of “Read Across America Day” on the famous author's birthday.

On March 2, 41 volunteers including Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White, Supervisor Carmen Chu and Board of Education Commissioner Emily Murase will read to students at Sunset Elementary School, located at 1920 41st Avenue, as part of the nationwide event.

The reading begins at 9 a.m. Featured books include “The Cat in the Hat” and “Green Eggs and Ham.”
