A multimillionaire Internet mogul who has appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show and the FOX show “Secret Millionaire” is facing 47 domestic violence-related counts in connection with an allegedly violent dispute Monday with a girlfriend, according to court documents.
Gurbaksh Chahal, 31, of San Francisco is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on charges that include assault with a deadly weapon and battery. One of the deadly weapons listed in the criminal complaint was a pillow.
Authorities have not released further details about the incident. Chahal, who is out of custody after posting $125,000 bail, is expected to be in court for Friday’s arraignment.
Chahal reportedly founded his first Internet advertising company, ClickAgents, at age 16 and later sold it for $40 million. At 25, Yahoo bought another one of his companies, BlueLithium, for $300 million.
In 2009, ExtraTV named him one of America’s most eligible bachelors after he appeared on an episode of the reality series “Secret Millionaires,” in which wealthy people go undercover to live with the poor while before surprising them with a large donation of their own money. The 2008 episode featured two Tenderloin charities.
