San Francisco driver accused of DUI joy ride

A San Francisco man who allegedly drove up to 80 mph in coned-off construction lanes on southbound U.S. Highway 101 in Marin County early Tuesday — speeding past two California Highway Patrol officers — is facing DUI charges, the CHP said.

Ross Piccinini, 22, who was reportedly driving his 2001 BMW 3 Series sedan, allegedly sped through the coned-off area north of Marin City about 1:40 a.m. Two CHP officers were stopped in the Caltrans construction zone when the BMW allegedly flew by.

Piccinini was stopped at the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza, CHP Officer Eric Hohmeister said, and officers determined he was intoxicated.

But Piccinini has apparently recognized the error of his ways.

On his Facebook page, a post Wednesday afternoon appeared to address the incident.

“Done watch 2013 porsche 911 Turbo and then go out and drive like you think you are in one. f***.”
