After a three-month closure for remodeling, Millbrae’s Asian Pearl Seafood Restaurant is open. Nothing has changed in the large dining room except the look, featuring newly painted walls, new chairs and even chandeliers. Lunchtime brings dim sum and substantial lines on the weekends, while dinner features Cantonese and Hong Kong specialties such as rib-eye with papayas cooked in a clay pot, steamed chicken feet, and salted egg yolk-batter fried tiger prawns and pumpkin.

In a follow-up to news that Woodside’s Station One closed, we learned that the restaurant owners were forced to close because they couldn’t agree on a lease agreement with the property owners. With spring’s arrival just days away, what better way to toast the end of winter than with one of dining’s great duos: oysters and a Loire Valley white wine? Left Bank Brasserie in Menlo Park is celebrating this pairing Monday through Friday with a special oyster-focused a la carte lunch and dinner menu to complement a $13 flight of three 2-ounce Loire Valley white wine pours. Menu specials include an oyster and salsify soup with oyster beignets and raw oyster and herring tartare with horseradish cream sauce and beet salad. Of course, you can get six raw oysters on the half-shell as well to go with that chilled class of Pouilly Fume.

Continuing the seafood theme: On Wednesday, Sam’s Chowder House in Half Moon Bay celebrates the great New England tradition of the backyard clambake with a Lobster Clambake Night featuring wines from J. Lohr Vineyards. The event includes a three-course dinner for $75 a person featuring clam chowder, a lobster per diner, various sides and chocolate torte for dessert.
