Fifty-five billboards began going up Monday featuring local atheists with messages such as "I worship nothing and question everything."
Judy Saint is president of the Greater Sacramento Chapter of Freedom From Religion Foundation, which is responsible for the ads. She says the messages are not intended to be anti-God but rather are an effort to let atheists know they are not alone.
The group also wants believers to know "we are good, moral people, too."
Monsignor James Murphy, vicar general of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sacramento, says the billboards offer an opportunity to remind his parishioners to live their faith every day.
