Who: Roland Pouncy, 42
What: Pouncy pleaded not guilty Wednesday to murder and robbery charges in connection with the strangling death of 47-year-old Richard Sprague in the Mission district. Sprague was found dead on Julian Avenue near 15th Street, several blocks from his home, early Feb. 19. Pouncy was arrested later that day after Sprague’s body was discovered, police said, and he allegedly had Sprague’s ATM card. DNA tests later linked Pouncy to the murder, said prosecutors, adding that he has a lengthy rap sheet.
What’s next: Pouncy is scheduled to return to court April 5.
