Robbers steal hundreds from Van Ness eatery

Two men who robbed a restaurant near Van Ness Avenue and Market Street late Monday night made off with “a few hundred dollars,” Officer Albie Esparza said.

The suspects reportedly entered the business in the first block of Van Ness Avenue about 11:30 p.m. They got in through the open front door and demanded money from a 23-year-old employee. One suspect then jumped over the front counter and grabbed cash from the register.

Both men fled and had not been found as of Tuesday, Esparza said. Police said that the suspects might have been in possession of a handgun, though no one was injured in the incident.
