Robber drags woman 80 feet, doesn't get purse

A determined woman who was dragged 80 feet by a robber while clinging to her purse in the Bayview on Wednesday ended up keeping the purse, police said.

The 26-year-old victim reportedly wasn't injured during the attack that occurred just after 4 p.m. near Phelps Street and Palou Avenue.

The suspect, described as a teenager, tried to grab the woman's purse after she exited a bus, but the woman held on.

"The suspect dragged the victim approximately 80 feet but was unable to get the purse," police said.

Empty-handed, the robber fled northbound on Phelps Street. No arrests have been reported.
