Regional planners laid the groundwork Friday for the Bay Area’s long term transportation and development goals.
Developed by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and the Association of Bay Area Governments, the “Initial Vision Scenario” begins the discussions for the region’s plans for development from 2015-40.
The plan will pinpoint targeted areas of development near transit hubs, as outlined by State Senate Bill 375, an initiative aimed at cutting down greenhouse gases.
The Initial Vision Scenario did not get into specific details, and is merely aimed at providing a “starting point for conversations with local governments and Bay Area residents about where new development should occur, and how new long-term transportation investments can serve this new growth,” according to the MTC.
The full plan will be officially finalized in 2013.
