‘A Common Green’: On Aug. 26, Orchard Hotels and the Bently Reserve hosted the second annual “A Common Green,” an event designed to give ecologically minded local businesses and environmental nonprofits and foundations an opportunity to connect in person. The gathering featured a showcase displaying interactive, inspiring examples of green design. The keynote speakers were Jared Blumenfeld and Zem Joaquin.

Philanthropist cocktail party:
Last week, the charity boutique held a gathering to celebrate Legal Aid Society-Employment Law Center as its eighth beneficiary. Profits from sales of Philanthropist’s high-end fashions between July and September will go to the group, which provides free legal services to low-wage and unemployed workers. Philanthropist owner Jessica Moment made a personal donation at the event, which raised more than $10,000 for LAS-ELC.

New-member tea:
On Aug. 29 in the Fairmont Hotel’s Crown Room, more than 100 members of the Spinsters of San Francisco, a longtime social and philanthropic organization, kicked off the group’s 81st year with a traditional new-member tea.
