Randy Moss has apparently read the writing on the wall, as he tweeted farewell to the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday.
"Wished we could've finished the job. Thanks for the opportunity and good luck in the future 9ers," Moss tweeted.
Moss is due to become a free agent on March 12. He signed with the 49ers a year ago after sitting out the 2011 NFL season. In his tenure with San Francisco, he had 28 catches for 434 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught seven passes for 112 yards and no touchdowns in the 49ers' playoff run to last month's Super Bowl.
Moss, who caught two passes for 41 yards in the NFL championship game, created controversy before it by saying he was being underutilized, as well as claiming he was the greatest receiver in NFL history.
Moss is now left to try and work out a deal with another team as he hopes to play a 15th season in the NFL.
