Randle carries Stanford past South Dakota State

Chasson Randle scored 17 of his 21 points in the first half and Stanford routed South Dakota State, 92-60, on Sunday as part of the Progressive Legends Classic. Anthony Brown added 19 points and Josh Huestis scored 13 for the Cardinal (6-2), who won their fifth in six games. Stefan Nastic had 10 points.

Cal men’s soccer advances: The fourth-seeded Cal men’s soccer team defeated Coastal Carolina 1-0 in the third round of the NCAA tournament to advance to the quarterfinals. The Bears (14-4-2) scored on midfielder Alec Sundly’s 65th-minute goal to set up a showdown with Maryland next weekend.

Cardinal eliminated from NCAA tourney: Ian Lange scored the only goal of the game in the 84th minute as Washington defeated Stanford 1-0 in the NCAA tournament, ending the Cardinal’s season. It was Stanford’s third loss of the season to Washington, having dropped two regular-season matches.

Stanford will hit road for Pac-12 title game: The Pac-12 Conference title game matchup has been set for a week. Now so is the location. No. 11 Arizona State (10-2, 8-1), whose only league loss came at seventh-ranked Stanford (10-2, 7-2) on Sept. 21, will host the Cardinal in the Pac-12 title game Saturday night with a spot in the Rose Bowl at stake.
