“Queen of Versailles” documentary star David Siegel is of course suing the filmmaker for making him look bad by actually filming him and then releasing it. His lawyers are trying every tack, but the latest strategy seems to be attacking his own son Richard.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Richard signed an agreement that any disputes with the moviemakers would end up in arbitration; however, dad says he never OK’d that. Sure, his son is vice president of the company, but “the designation of 'vice president' is strictly honorary, unaccompanied by any of the traditional corporate authority such as a position might otherwise garner its occupant,” David says in court docs.
The defense seems to have the best argument, though: “The content of the film is the best evidence that David is lying.”
