Public hearing set for Tuesday on road closure possibilities in the Presidio

The Presidio Trust will hold a public hearing on Tuesday to gather feedback on a controversial proposal to reduce automobile traffic on a through-road in the National Park.

While Battery Caulfield Road is not a major thoroughfare in the Presidio, many motorists use the street to get to and from the Public Health Service District, a new cluster of businesses and residential units in the Presidio.

Residents on Lake Street in the Richmond District have complained about increasing car traffic in their neighborhood, and as a result, the Presidio Trust has offered two separate proposals to limit or eliminate car use on Battery Caulfield Road, which acts as a key connecting point.

The Presidio Trust will host the public hearing at 6:30 p.m. at the Golden Gate Club on 135 Fisher Loop in the Presidio.
