An open house event is scheduled for today to promote the region’s new bike-sharing program.

Bay Area Bike Share launched Aug. 29. The venture brought 350 bikes and dozens of stations to San Francisco, and another 350 bikes to cities in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.

New bike station locations are planned for the Mission district, Castro, Hayes Valley and Mission Bay, and the public can share ideas and get more information about the program at today’s event.

The event will take place at the San Francisco LGBT Community Center at 1800 Market St. from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
