Public can chime in on school-assignment proposal 

Superintendent Carlos Garcia’s proposed new student-assignment system for the San Francisco Unified School District will be subject to public comment at Wednesday’s school board meeting.

The plan would allow many city elementary and middle school students to go to neighborhood schools. The board is scheduled to act on the proposal March 9. Wednesday’s meeting begins at 6 p.m.
