Back in May, The Examiner wrote about Mayor Ed Lee speaking at a fundraiser for the Coalition for Responsible Growth, a political action committee that has banked on moderate candidates in the past.
While Lee says he’s not running for mayor, that’s not the impression that some of the participants got after listening to him speak. In the monthly newsletter of the Small Property Owners of San Francisco Institute, the group’s president, Noni Richen, had no doubts that Lee would eventually enter the race.
“Keynote speaker Mayor Ed Lee talked about his proposed solutions in a manner that suggested a continuing presence, not mentioning leaving the office in better shape for his successor,” Richen wrote. “After he spoke, the room was alive with tablehoppers high-fiving and assuring each other that, yes, Ed Lee will run.”
So while Lee’s lips may say no, his actions may be speaking louder than words.
