Power outages affecting thousands in SF, peninsula

Separate power outages have turned the lights off this evening for thousands of PG&E customers in San Francisco, Daly City and Pacifica, a utility spokeswoman said.

At about 6:20 p.m., 2,797 customers lost power along the Peninsula, mostly in Daly City and Pacifica, PG&E spokeswoman Brandi Ehlers said.

A second outage was reported at 7:27 p.m. and is affecting 2,459 customers in the Pacific Heights, Nob Hill and Russian Hill neighborhoods of San Francisco.

Ehlers said the outages are potentially weather related, but that the official causes are under investigation. There is no estimated time for when power will be restored.
