Poor grades apparently caused an Academy of Arts student to steal a bicycle from one of his school’s campuses, police said.
The thief was reportedly captured on video March 26 swiping a Fuji bike from the campus at 601 Brannan St.
On April 4, police said, a “very observant” security guard spotted the suspect and identified him as a student.
“The thief said he stole the bicycle for financial reasons, because his financial aid was going to be cancelled due to poor grades,” police at Southern Station said.
The suspect was booked into jail, police said, but the bicycle was not recovered because the thief had already gotten rid of it.
