A woman was robbed at gunpoint while opening a Polk Gulch business Thursday morning, police said.

The thug, described as a man in his 20s, reportedly pulled out a handgun and held it to the 34-year-old merchant’s head in the 600 block of Eddy Street, between Polk and Larkin streets, at about 9 a.m.

The robber demanded that the merchant open the door and unlock the safe, police said, and the she complied. While the suspect reached in for the cash, the merchant fled and screamed for help.

The suspect then fled westbound on Eddy Street in a vehicle driven by a woman, police said.

An unknown amount of cash was taken, but no one was injured. An arrest has not been reported.
