Police make arrest in grisly South Park stabbing

San Francisco police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after the grisly discovery of another man stabbed multiple times in a South Park area apartment during a May 18 welfare check.

Officers responded to the scene in the first block of Perry Street after a neighbor reported hearing cries for help, police said. When police arrived they found the 44-year-old victim inside his apartment with multiple stab wounds. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

After a lengthy investigation, police were able to identify a suspect and traced his location to a hotel in 1000 block of Sutter Street. He was promptly arrested and charged with attempted murder.

The victim is expected to survive.
