Police are on the hunt for a man who reportedly pulled out a gun during an attempted robbery on a Muni bus in June, Officer Albie Esparza said Thursday.

The incident occurred about 4:20 p.m. June 20 near Market and 11th streets, Esparza said. The suspect boarded the bus and walked to the rear where two youths were sitting, Esparza said. He demanded both of their cellphones at gunpoint.

The youths alerted the bus driver about the incident and the suspect then fled west down Market Street, Esparza said.

The suspect is described by police as a black man, 20 to 21 years old, 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. He has curly hair and was not clean-shaven.

Anyone with information on the suspect or incident is asked to call police at (415) 575-4444 or by text at TIP411, with "SFPD" at the beginning of the message.
