San Francisco police are investigating a shooting that happened near Taylor Street and Cosmo Place early Sunday morning, Officer Gordon Shyy said.
The incident occurred about 1:15 a.m., Shyy said. When officers arrived, they did not find a victim. Witnesses told police that they heard a commotion and then gunfire.
They also told police they saw a silver sedan speeding away from the scene.
Police notified area hospitals about potential shooting victims, Shyy said. Staff at Highland Hospital in Oakland later contacted police and told them they had a 26-year-old shooting victim in their care. The victim has not been cooperative with investigators, Shyy said.
When the victim is cleared medically he will be turned over to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office for unrelated active felony warrants.
The shooting on Taylor Street is an ongoing investigation, Shyy said, and anyone with further information on the incident is encouraged to call police at (415) 575-4444 or text TIP411 with "SFPD" in the message.
