Police investigating 62-year-old man’s mysterious death

Authorities are probing the death of a San Francisco man found lying on a rain-battered sidewalk in the Tenderloin on Saturday.

Tenderloin homeless outreach officers said they discovered Raymond Leong, 62, of San Francisco, on Geary Street near Van Ness Avenue around 8 a.m., police spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield said Monday.

A cold rain drenched the semi-conscious Leong, who was having trouble breathing, Dangerfield said.

“He was completely soaked,” Dangerfield said.

He was transported to the hospital around 8 a.m., where he died, police said.

The cause of death remains under investigation, Dangerfield said.

Further information about the case was not immediately available.
