Police investigate robbery-kidnapping in Visitacion Valley

Three people were robbed and one of them briefly kidnapped in a home-invasion robbery Saturday morning in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood, police said.

The robbery occurred at about 9 a.m. in the 200 block of Rutland Street, according to police.

Five men in their early to mid-20s burst into a home with shotguns and a knife, tied up a man in his late 40s and robbed him and two women, one in her late 40s and another in her early 30s, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

One of the women was kidnapped by the suspects but was dropped off back at the home at 5 p.m. Saturday, Esparza said.

Four individuals were detained around noon Saturday in connection with the case, according to Esparza.

Further details were not immediately available.
