Plenty of playoff possibilities for 49ers

The 49ers clinched a playoff berth with a win over the Atlanta Falcons on Monday, but there are still several possibilities regarding where they will be playing.

Should the unlikely happen and the St. Louis Rams beat the Seahawks in Seattle, a win by the Niners over Arizona would mean San Francisco wins its third consecutive NFC West crown and a home playoff game.

And should the Carolina Panthers also lose in Atlanta on Sunday, the 49ers could still lay claim to the top seed in the NFC, meaning a possible two playoff games for Candlestick.

All of those things coming together are against the odds, however. Seattle has lost at home only once in the past two seasons -- Sunday against Arizona -- and St. Louis is fighting to finish at .500 for the season.

Still, hope remains that Monday's fireworks show in what was the last regular-season game at the Stick won't be the last.
