A proposal to enhance boarding platforms for transit passengers on the N-Judah line — a development that will take away parking spaces — will be up for approval next week.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is recommending extending the sidewalks on two sides of Carl Street in Cole Valley. The extensions — called bulbouts — will allow passengers easier access to the N-Judah line, which carries over 45,000 passengers each day.
By adding the bulbouts to Carl Street, the agency would be removing eight existing parking spots on the thoroughfare. The SFMTA Board of Directors will vote on approving the measure at its meeting Tuesday.
If the $425,000 project is authorized, construction on the bulbouts would begin in February 2012.
