Pigeons knock out power to thousands in San Francisco

Pigeons flew into an overhead line and knocked out power to about 2,000 PG&E customers in San Francisco for about an hour Monday morning, a utility spokesman said.

The outage was reported at 10:54 a.m. and affected customers in parts of the city's Mission, South of Market and Eureka Valley neighborhoods,PG&E spokesman Jason King said.

Crews responded and discovered that pigeons had flown into an

overhead line, King said.Power was restored by 11:50 a.m., he said.
