The wretched deaths of a pet cat and dog in the Inner Sunset district have police searching for a vile human who may be poisoning animals in the neighborhood.
Pet owners in the 1200 block of 15th Avenue told cops they took their dog out for a walk Sunday and all appeared fine. But then around 2 p.m. as they were leaving their home they noticed their cat vomiting, panting, crying and unable to move its legs, according to San Francisco police Officer Albie Esparza.
They took the cat to the veterinarian for treatment. After returning home, the owners noticed their dog was showing symptoms, including disorientation, vomiting and defecation, Esparza said. They took the dog to the veterinarian.
Both animals died during treatment, Esparza said.
The horrified pet owners told cops that a neighbor’s pet may have also been poisoned, Esparza said. The neighbor is encouraged to contact police, he said.
