Peninsula prep football games

Friday’s games

Menlo-Atherton at Aragon, 3 p.m.

After an 0-3 start to the season, Menlo-Atherton has turned things around just in time for PAL Bay Division play. The Bears have won two straight and now hit the road to meet a reeling Aragon team fresh off a 42-7 loss.

San Mateo at Menlo, 3 p.m.

The Bearcats (2-3) have fallen on hard times, dropping three straight. Things won’t get any easier for San Mateo against a Menlo (4-1) team that is hitting on all cylinders. The Knights have averaged 43 points per game in their past four contests.

Mills at El Camino, 3 p.m.

El Camino is currently the only team in the Lake with a league win. On the flip side, Mills (0-5) has been outscored 234-39 in its five losses this season.

Sequoia at Capuchino, 7 p.m.

After a 4-0-1 nonleague campaign. Sequoia appears poised to make a run at the PAL Ocean Division title. Capuchino has dropped two straight and scored a combined six points in those two losses.

Woodside at Jefferson, 7 p.m.

The visiting Wildcats (1-4) stunned San Mateo last week to pick up their first win of the season. Things don’t get any easier this week as Jefferson boasts a 4-1 record in 2010.

Half Moon Bay at South San Francisco, 7 p.m.

South San Francisco will be trying to end a two-game losing skid. Meanwhile, the visiting Cougars will be trying to rebound after suffering an 18-point loss to Menlo last week.

Burlingame at Terra Nova, 8 p.m.

In what should be one of the more competitive games of the week, the stingy Burlingame defense will be tested by Terra Nova’s high-powered offense. The Panthers have only given up 11.8 points per game, while the Tigers are averaging
36.6 points a contest.

Saturday’s games

St. Francis at Serra, 1 p.m.

A traditional WCAL matchup that rarely disappoints. Both teams bring 1-1 WCAL records into Saturday’s showdown. St. Francis edged Serra 27-24 in last year’s game.

King’s Academy at Sacred Heart Prep, 3 p.m.

After an impressive nonleague ledger, the host Gators (4-1) fell back to Earth last week in their PAL Bay Division opener, losing a close 13-9 game to Burlingame.
