A pedestrian was seriously injured when she was struck by a bicyclist in downtown San Francisco on Sunday, police Officer Gordon Shyy said.
The victim, a woman in her 60s, was at Market and Stockton streets about 12:25 p.m. when she was struck by a bicyclist riding westbound on the sidewalk.
She was taken to the hospital with injuries considered to be life threatening, Shyy said.
Original reports said the 21-year-old male cyclist was cited and released at the scene, but that is not the case, Shyy said. The investigation is ongoing.
It is a vehicle code violation to ride a bicycle on the sidewalk, Shyy said.
