Patient panhandler preys on ATM users forgetfulness

A patient panhandler who has been lingering in front of a Cow Hollow bank wasn’t hoping ATM customers would stuff $20 bills into his cup — he was waiting for customers to forget their cards in the machine so he could help himself, Northern Station cops say.

In February, investigators issued a wanted bulletin for the panhandler, who allegedly robbed several ATM users of cash at a bank at Union and Buchanan streets.

The suspect allegedly figures folks often forget their ATM cards in the machine, police said. Before time expires, the crook withdraws cash from their accounts, police said.

On Sunday, cops arrested the wanted suspect on a felony fraud charge, police said.
