Plans to nearly triple the number of rental units at Parkmerced will be discussed Monday by city lawmakers and officials.
The expansion from 3,221 to 8,900 apartments is expected to increase the rental community’s population by more than 10,000 residents and place new pressures on transit services.
Supervisor Sean Elsbernd, whose district includes Parkmerced, requested a hearing regarding the plans.
The hearing is scheduled during a Land Use and Economic Development Committee meeting that begins at 1 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
Parkmerced is located close to Lake Merced in southwestern San Francisco.
