It’s time to pick on somebody your own size.
A teenage boy was burned in the face with a cigarette and his male friend was assaulted during an armed robbery Monday in the Western Addition.
The teens were walking with two others on McAllister Street near Laguna Street about 5:50 p.m. when three men approached and asked for the time, police Officer Albie Esparza said.
The first victim, a 14-year-old, told the men the time, Esparza said, but one of them then demanded cash. The boy refused.
The man pulled out a pistol and reached into the boy’s pocket.
The boy’s friend, a 13-year-old, reportedly tried to intervene, but another thug threatened to burn both of them with a cigarette. One of the creeps then punched the 14-year-old in the face, Esparza said, and the second suspect pushed a lit cigarette into the 13-year-old’s face.
Esparza said the men fled with cash and an MP3 player. No arrests have been made.
The victims’ injuries were not considered life-threatening and they refused treatment at the scene, Esparza said.
