One person is dead after a two car collision on the Dumbarton Bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Four lanes of the six-lane bridge are blocked with the crash and emergency personnel, according to CHP. Drivers are advised to seek other routes.
Around 3 p.m. Tuesday a gray Pontiac and a red minivan collided while heading west on the bridge at the high rise section, as the highway nears Redwood City. The cause of the crash is unknown, but one person – believed to be a driver of one of the vehicles – is confirmed dead. It is unknown how many other passengers are involved.
According to CHP, the two left lanes heading toward Redwood City are closed as well as the two left lanes of the bridge heading toward Newark.
Drivers are advised to take Highways 237 or 92 to cross the Bay, until the incident is cleared. There is no estimated time when the Dumbarton will reopen.
