Oasis' Liam Gallagher earns praise with new band

This might be the bulletin a lot of you are waiting for. Tired of fighting like cats and dogs — or Ray and Dave Davies — scrappy Oasis siblings Noel and Liam Gallagher recently called it quits, with Noel flying solo and Liam concentrating on his clothing line and — reportedly — a brand-new group called Beady Eye, featuring Oasis mainstays Gem Archer and Andy Bell, plus newcomer Chris Sharrock. Houston — err, Manchester, we have liftoff!

With studio vet Steve Lillywhite, Liam’s project has just finished its debut for (you guessed it) Beady Eye Records, the atly-dubbed “Different Gear, Still Speeding.”

The album — out Feb. 28 — is preceded by a “Bring The Light” video, available at (get ready for it!) www.beadyeyemusic.com. Within 24 hours of its debut, the clip got 350,000 hits, and a brief U.K. tour — where they’ll be joined onstage by keyboardist Matt Jones and bassist Jeff Wootton — sold out almost instantly.

The album tracklisting is: “Four Letter Word,” “Millionaire,” “The Roller,” “Beatles & Stones,” “Wind Up Dream,” “Bring The Light,” “For Anyone,” “Kill For A Dream,” “Standing On The Edge Of The Noise,” “Wigwam,” “Three Ring Circus,” “The Beat Goes On” and “The Morning Son.”

Can Liam and crew keep up with Noel, who wrote almost every Oasis smash? From the kid brother’s recent forays into songwriting, signs definitely point to Yes.
