The San Francisco Police Commission expects to have a list of three names for Mayor Ed Lee to choose a new police chief from from starting this week, and he got some advice from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg on what to look for.
“You have to have somebody that understands the first job is to make the streets safe so you don’t have to look over your shoulder,” Bloomberg said. “They have to do it consistent with the Constitution of the United States.”
Bloomberg may have been reading up on the SFPD’s own scandal to have mentioned that little bit about the Constitution. He didn’t stop there either.
“It is aggressive policing consistent with the law that keeps crime down,” Bloomberg said.
