Nonprofit deputy director resigns

After two decades of supplying more than 200 grants for community projects throughout The City, Sheila Kolenc, the deputy director of nonprofit SF Beautiful, has decided to move on.

Kolenc said the decision will help manage the nonprofit’s financial resources while it restructures its staff and board members.

“As I look at the 200-plus urban design awards that we’ve given out to community groups and the 200-plus grants, I think that’s really where my pride comes in.’’ she said.

She said she is especially excited to see Murphy's Windmill reach full restoration since she sat on a key steering committee to put it back together.

“I’m saddened I haven’t gotten to see the end result, but it will be coming,’’ she said.

Kolenc lives in Berkeley and looking for similar work within the Bay Area.
