Niners running back Frank Gore has been fined $10,500 for wearing his socks too low during the NFC Championship Game.
Gore was fined for “failure to conform” due to his socks being too low in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Atlanta Falcons, according to ESPN.
NFL players are required to wear their socks high to meet with the bottom of the uniform pants. Gore wore his socks about a foot too low down his leg.
Allegations against 49ers WR Crabtree not holding up: Two women who were with 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree and an alleged assault victim in a hotel room after a playoff game have told police investigators that he didn’t attack anyone.
San Francisco police are investigating the sexual-assault allegations at a party that took place after the 49ers defeated the Green Bay Packers in an NFC divisional round game on Jan. 12.
No physical evidence has been found and police have yet to determine whether the woman who said she was attacked sought medical treatment, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Crabtree had six catches for 57 yards last Sunday in a 28-24 victory over Atlanta that sent the 49ers to the Super Bowl.
Niners set to touch down in New Orleans on Sunday: The 49ers will be the first team to touch down in New Orleans for the Super Bowl when the NFC champions arrive Sunday night. The Baltimore Ravens are set to show up Monday.
The NFL on Wednesday said the 49ers are scheduled to arrive about 5:30 p.m., while the Ravens come to the Big Easy about 2 p.m. on Monday.
The game is Feb. 3.
Before last year’s game in Indianapolis, the AFC champion Patriots arrived first, followed a day later by the NFC champion Giants.
