Newsom Tracker: Another full day in India

The traveling Mayor Gavin Newsom has another busy day of relationship-building in Bangalore, India, a San Francisco sister city.

Newsom signed a memorandum of understanding with Cisco on Tuesday morning and attend a ribbon-cutting at the Cisco Globalization Center East, the Mayor’s Office said.

At noon Tuesday (local time in India) Newsom was set to tour the campus of Infosys’ headquarters and meet with the company’s CEO, the Mayor’s Office said.

On his Twitter page, where the mayor has been posting brief remarks about his trip, Newsom said, “Toured Cisco’s Bangalore Campus & Infosys HQ.”

He then offered this nugget of wisdom.

“A 5-hour flight from India covers 70% of world’s population — these companies ‘get it’.”

Two hours after visiting Infosys, Newsom was scheduled to visit Biocon, a biotech company, and meet with industry leaders.

Later this evening, Newsom was set to attend a sister-city gala at Kingfisher Plaza in UB City, a large mixed-used development in Bangalore.

And while you’d think the gala would cap the night, Newsom was on tap at 10:30 p.m. to participate in a “live multi-city Cisco teleconference” with Mayor Job Cohen of Amsterdam, the Mayor’s Office said.
