Newsom to chat with guv’s people

After a press conference earlier today to announce plans to bring businesses and jobs into the downtrodden Mid-Market District, Mayor Gavin Newsom headed to Sacramento to chat with the governor’s people about the JobsNow program.

The mayor has long said The City is one of the nation’s only jurisdictions capitalizing on the program that pays employers 100 percent of a new hire’s salary for a period of time. He’s also traveled to Washington, D.C., to ask the federal government to extend and expand the program.
