Newsom pushes closing Golden Gate Park late at night

Earlier this week, San Francisco police blatantly told city supervisors that there is more crime in Golden Gate Park than what's being reported, especially homeless on homeless crime.

Mayor Gavin Newsom had already caught onto this trend and on Tuesday introduced legislation to close Golden Gate Park and McLaren Park from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

"Most cities close their major parks at night, from New York to Los Angeles, and with growing concern over violence and vandalism in our two largest parks, it's time for San Francisco to consider joining them," said Tony Winnicker, Newsom's spokesman. "If you're lurking in the park at 3 a.m, there's a good chance you're up to no good."
