Newsom begs voters to participate in supe races

Just yesterday, Mayor Gavin Newsom was popping off to reporters about how he would have fired some San Francisco elected officials for their greediness during the tough budget season. And although he has no power to fire electeds, including city supervisors and the district attorney, he can try to influence the electorate.

Newsom begged voters during a Tuesday morning business breakfast to get involved in the local district supervisor races, noting that what happens in November could either make or break San Francisco politics.

“You are the only thing standing between a dramatic shift of course in this town and keeping this pace of progressive politics with some fiscal discipline,” Newsom said. “Please take the time to learn about these district supervisor races. Please. Please. Don’t grab me six months from now and say ‘what just happened?’"
