A proposal by the supervisor to transform the San Francisco Zoo into an animal rescue center is scheduled for a vote in September. The zoo came under criticism after a tiger escaped from its enclosure and fatally killed a teenager in December. A Board of Supervisors committee voted Thursday to send the proposed legislation to the full board. It is scheduled to be voted on after the board’s three-week legislative break.
