The major networks don’t just have cable competition to deal with anymore: Online streaming site Netflix scored big by getting Primetime Emmy nominations for its series “House of Cards,” starring Kevin Spacey.

The show received nine nods in all, including for outstanding drama series.

Another Netflix show, “Orange is the New Black,” is getting even more critical acclaim, though it began airing too late for this year’s awards. The phrase “game-changer” is of course making the rounds in entertainment outlets.

“To some, this is a moment reminiscent of the days when cable channels like HBO first began to challenge the dominance of broadcast networks like ABC,” said The New York Times. Bring it on.
