Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has served in the House of Representatives for 25 years, and The San Francisco Examiner endorses her bid for two more.
Pelosi’s track record includes helping to secure major projects that are at the heart of what makes San Francisco a vibrant city. And The City will continue to need strong leadership in Washington as large infrastructure projects requiring federal approval, including the Central Subway, cleanup and transfer of Treasure Island, and California’s high-speed rail project move ahead.
With the new congressional boundaries, Pelosi will now represent the entirety of San Francisco, including the western neighborhoods. With the full population of The City now residing in her district, Pelosi should continue to be a tireless national advocate for the values that San Francisco espouses, including equality for everyone, protections of human rights and protection of the environment.
Whether or not the balance of power in the House shifts back to Democratic control, Pelosi is the strongest person we could select to represent this city.
