N-Judah line to be disrupted

A project to replace aging tracks on a portion of the N-Judah light-rail line begins tonight, forcing riders onto buses, diverting traffic and increasing noise in the neighborhood.

The repairs, which will take place the next three weekends, will affect the intersections at Judah Street and 19th Avenue and Judah and Sunset Boulevard. Municipal Transportation Agency officials said the work will take place between 8 p.m. Fridays and 4 a.m. Mondays.

Affected Muni routes are the N-Judah, outbound 28-19th Avenue (toward Daly City) and inbound 29-Sunset (toward the Presidio). Parking in the area will also be affected.

Crews also will upgrade pedestrian curb ramps, add overhead wiring, replace old water mains and implement Muni signal priority at traffic lights.
